couldn't agree more. as pastor of family life, i lead a team of 10. two months ago we postponed our weekly administrative meetings focused on handling the details of ministry: attendance, service improvement, critical assessment, etc.. instead i am having the leadership subset of the team (5 total) over to my house on thursday mornings. for 90 minutes each week we now focus in on who we are "becoming" as Christ-followers instead of what we are "doing".

that might be a bit extreme for some, but i can tell you that there is a freedom that this team feels now and our growth in these ministries is out pacing the weekend attendance. God is blessing our efforts because we corrected our focus.
