This week, in celebration of 40 years, I thought I’d share four “Top 10″ lists… my own personal Top 40.
Today’s list will be the top 10 favorite verses from the Bible… these are the ones that I recall on a frequent basis in living life and dealing with whatever is in front of me.
10. John 17:3 – “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”
9. Philippians 1:6 - “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
8. Malachi 3:10 – “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”
7. Ephesians 2:10 – “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
6. I Peter 5:10 – “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”
5. Psalm 51:7 - “Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.”
4. Hebrews 12:2 - “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
3. Romans 8:32 - “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”
2. Hebrews 11:1 – “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
1. John 6:35 – “Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.”
