Memorial Day

John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends

For most this day has become just another holiday that means no work or school. I know I have been guilty of that attitude in the past. The older I get the more I realize how amazing it is to be an American. We have great freedom and face very few trials as we go from day to day. As a follower of Jesus, I can’t really even relate to the hardships believers face in other parts of the world simply because I live in America.

Since our country was founded over 1,200,000 men and women have died in war.

The people we honor today followed Jesus’ example even if they didn’t know him. They laid down their life for something great. They died so that others might live in freedom. They gave the ultimate gift, unfortunately, to many who will never really appreciate it.

Let’s not let today pass by without being thankful for the freedom we have because someone paid a price that we didn’t have to pay.
